IGRAC and UNESCO-IHP organised a one-week training course on ‘Advanced Groundwater Monitoring and Analysis’ for groundwater professionals from Uzbekistan. This course covered topics including groundwater resources assessment and Global Groundwater Information System (GGIS), which is an interactive, web-based portal to groundwater-related information and knowledge. In addition to the programme at UNESCO-IHE, field trips were organised to the Amsterdamse Waterleidingduinen and Royal Eijkelkamp.
The purpose of the course was to introduce state-of-the-art knowledge on groundwater monitoring and related quantity and quality analysis to a selected group of groundwater professionals from Uzbekistan. The training included a field sampling and the laboratory analysis. An extensive introduction of monitoring and analysis equipment was provided in order to practically test its potential suitability for the work in Uzbekistan.
